It improves the manner in which students learn while the school increases the comfort of its facilities and saves money. Now more than ever LEA's need to be dilligent on improving their energy performance by trying to find out best practices in terms energy and utility management. School Districts are encouraged to take part in these changes to achieve energy savings as they realize that the benefits of energy-efficient schools are more than environmental. The money these energy-efficient schools can save  on their energy bills are now allocated for the improvement of learning facilities, hiring more teaching staff, and implementing more educational programs.



Energy has become an increasing expense for K-12 Schools across the country. Reports show that in the State of California alone, school districts spend approximately $700 million on energy - dollars that could very well be spent on school supplies, improved learning facilities, and school staff compensation.

While technology and innovative facilities are mostly what education principles put into priority, a lot of schools are faced with finding out solutions to reduce their energy costs and maximize the potential of their present facilities to improve energy efficiency. More often than not, the challenge lies in how to fund new energy-efficient upgrades in order to improve the learning environment and how to manage those upgrades to realize future savings.
